That being said, I would still like for them to add ladders, custom campaigns, and profiles with ranks and win ratio. Plus, as mentioned before, popularity, they could get away with W3. Way more people care about D2 than about remaster of an RTS, D2 is just from a more popular genre. It's a remaster of a finished product, so in this case pre-orders aren't going to affect much how much development will happen after release, except for some patches. I think there is a difference between RTS and hack'n slash/RPG. Yes, WC3:Reforged did not live up to the hype, but with the various trailers we've been given, not just cinematics but gameplay, they've clearly learned a blunt lesson from their consumers after having to issue refunds for WC3:Reforged, which affected ABK's stock price, which is where this differs from failed stretch goals and product launches from Kickstarter games. What would they judge launch staff and resources needed on if not pre-order demand? You do not need to look any furhther than Warcraft 3.Īnd if you still want to pre-order, go ahead, its your money.īut you should never pre-order ANYTHING in my own opinion.

but is it good for you, as a customer?Īre we forgetting all the pre-orders bonuses that are such a bad way of doing stuff and also all the broken games that got the money from pre-orders and yet lunched it borken? Pre-order is a bad move in most cases, yes, its a good thing for company, of course, they get your mony, for product that does not even exist yet in its full state. Of course there is an exeption to the rule, but you need to understand that they are doing estimates of how much they need before and on another scale, not by pre-orders.
